Early Symptoms of Diabetes | Types and Causes

Diabetes is a group of long-lasting medical conditions that involve problems with the hormone (Insulin) that regulate blood sugar (glucose) levels in the body.

Cells in the pancreas produce and secrete insulin into the bloodstream based on the body’s glucose level.

When the glucose level in the body is too high or too low, the cells produce and secrete insulin to regulate it to balance the blood’s glucose level.

If the cells in the pancreas are damaged, or if your body does not respond well to insulin, you may start having severe health problems such as kidney disease and heart disease.

What causes type 1 diabetes

EARLY SYMPTOMS OF DIABETES – The exact cause of type 1 is unknown, but researchers believe it tends to run in the family.

  • Type 2: This occurs when the body becomes resistant to its insulin, resulting in the cells in your pancreas, producing little insulin to overcome the resistance.

Causes of type 2

The likelihood of developing type 2 increases if you have a family history of it.

Other risk factors in developing it are;

  1. Environmental factors; for example, being overweight, having little exercise, stress.
  2. Health history, like Depression, heart disease, prediabetes.
  • Gestational diabetes: This version occurs during pregnancy. It usually goes away after birth.
