Step 1: Know Your Skin Type
There are different skin types; knowing your skin type helps you identify the right way to take care of it, plus products that worked for skin “A” may not work for you due to the qualities your skin possesses, so identifying your skin type is of the essence to achieve the perfect skin.
Perfect Skin Care Routine – Types Of Skin
- Dry Skin: They are rough, flaky. The skin looks dull without moisture.
- Oily Skin: The skin looks shiny and Is greasy or oily, especially on the face.
- Combination Skin: The skin is only oily in some spots like the forehead, nose, and chin, while the cheek is dry.
- Sensitive Skin: Prone to itching, burning, and other skin irritation, mostly when skincare products are used or makeup
- Normal: This is the ideal type of skin, balanced and clear.
Perfect Skin Care Routine – Step 2: Cleaning Your Skin
For Normal Skin
Apply a gentle cleanser or soap on the face; it doesn’t have to be fancy or expensive, just a product that will keep your skin clean.
Do not scrub your face. Only wash gently with your fingers, then rinse off with warm water.
Use alcohol and fragrance-free cleanser. These two ingredients in cleaners can dry out your skin even more, so one must avoid them.
Gently wash your face and rinse off with warm water. Exfoliating is also helpful in getting rid of dead skin cells and giving you a more even tone, so you should try it out.
Use an oil-free cleanser to wash your face gently and rinse off with warm water. A toner or astringent is also helpful in reducing the fat on the face.
For sensitive skin, for a cleanser, your face needs a product with fewer ingredients as possible.
Avoid products that contain alcohol, soap, and acid. Instead, look for one with soothing ingredients like aloe vera, green tea, chamomile.
Avoid exfoliating or scrubbing your face, instead, wash it gently with your hands and rinse off with warm water.
How Often Should You Wash Your Face?
Washing your face too much can dry the skin out, so twice a day is advisable.
Step 3: Moisturize
After cleaning your face, it needs to be moisturized, no exception to any skin type.
Apply it when your face is still damp from washing so your skin can easily absorb the moisture. For oily skin, go for oil-free or lightweight moisturizers so they would not block your pores.
Step 4: Put on Sunscreen
The sun can damage the skin as well, so it needs to be protected.
Sunscreen is one way of giving your skin the protection it needs. Get sunscreen with broad-spectrum protection with an SPF of at least 30.
Ensure you never go out without applying it on to keep your skin thoroughly protected.
Step 5: Don’t Wear Makeup to Bed
Sleeping with makeup on at night clog your pores and causes acne, so no matter how tired you are, ensure you wash it off and enable your skin to breathe.
Following these skincare routines takes you one step closer to having perfect skin.
