Multitalented Nollywood actor, a force to be reckoned with in the Nigerian movie industry, a veteran, versatile promoter of the African culture, and an award-winning filmmaker, producer, and director, Alhaji Akanni Olayinka Quadri was born in Lagos Island, Lagos State on September 6 1959, into a wealthy polygamous family of 22 children, originating from Oro town in Kwara State.
Yinka attended St. Catholic primary School in Idumagbo, Before proceeding to the Christ High School, Ebute Elefun, for his Secondary Education.

Unfortunately, he could not finish his secondary school education and chose to drop out to help with his father’s business.

He worked tirelessly to start up his acting career in 1976, getting certifications in drama and performing arts and also theatre art practices.
He went against all the odds as his father was initially against the path his son has taking in life but later agreed after seeing the efforts imputed and happiness that emanated from his career choice.

Alhaji Quadri and Taiwo Hassan along with other friends formed a drama group called AFOPINA THEATRE GROUP; He has starred in hundreds of Yoruba movies and TV series, most popular amongst them are, Obinrin Sowanu (2004), Kadara mi (2004), and Kadara Mi 2 (2004).
Yinka has many awards and titles to his name such as Best Actor in a supporting role (2007 Movie Academy Awards), Best Actor in a leading role (2014 Best of Nollywood awards), City People Movie Lifetime Achievement Award (2017), an award of excellence in recognition of his great performance in the field of entertainment in 2004 by the Student Union Government, Federal College of Education, Akoka. He has also been nominated for a whole train of awards.
He also occupied notable positions such as the Director of Ok films Nigeria Limited. He is agreat inspiration and a highly influential figure in the Nigerian movie industry as a result of his great contributions to its growth and development.
On April 27, 2014, the Yoruba movie actor celebrated his golden jubilee and his 36th year anniversary in the movie industry where he launched his autobiography titled; Yinka Quadri: The scent of a Legend; which contained his life and journey of success through the movie industry.
Yinka is married to Nike Quadri, and they share four children, Muyiwa, Yewande Olajuwon, and Folarin Quadri. He is also a grandfather and a devout Muslim. His hobbies include indoor games, directing, screenplay, film producing, and travelling.
