In 2008 after the birth of their children, Tran was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer, and she said she was afraid of what would happen to her children if she lost her life.
While she went through chemotherapy for cancer, Ken landed Leslie Chow’s role in the first “Hangover film,” which proved to be his breakthrough in the entertainment industry.
During the filming, Ken added words and phrases to his dialogue which he called “inside jokes” between him and Tran.
Even the film director Todd Phillips did not know about this.
Tran Jeong had to go through 16 chemotherapy, one mastectomy, and radiation therapy in subsequent months.
In 2010, her doctors declared her cancer-free, though her oncologist informed her of her cancer’s possible return in two years.

Ken won the” Best WTF Moment Award” in the 2010 MTV Movie Awards, where he celebrated his wife’s recovery.
On February 18, 2017, Ken revealed on Twitter that he was celebrating his wife’s eighth anniversary of being cancer-free.
