Nigerian police allegedly killed a 15-year-old during a protest

The Nigerian police have reportedly killed a 15-year-old during a demonstration by the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, IMN.

The deceased identified as Muhammad Jawwad was fatally shot at a protest by the IMN to free their leader Sheikh El-Zakzaky who has been in DSS custody since December 2015.

It is coming a few days after Kaduna High Court granted a no-case submission on charges against 91 IMN member.

The leader of the IMN, El-Zakzaky, is in DSS custody charged with culpable homicide. 

During the arrest of Zakzaky, his son Sayyid Aliyu and many members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) were reportedly killed, according to reports.

The Nigerian army said El-Zakzaky was arrested in response to an assassination attempt by his followers on the Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Tukur Buratai.

During the Pro-Palestinian rally in July 2015, 34 protesters were reportedly killed by the Nigerian soldiers, three undergraduate sons of Zakzaky were among those killed.

The Nigerian army said members of Shi’ite blocked the motorcade transporting Lt General Tukur Buratai before troops responded with force.
