In 2020 it was announced that she, alongside some other contestants were a part of the 2020 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Model Search winners.

This led to her securing a spot as Rooky in the 2021 issue.

Before this win, Kathy had earlier participated in the SI Swimsuit Model Search but never made it past the first round.

It is a good thing she never gave up and was able to get selected at almost 60.
