This influenced her decision to obtain a Master’s degree in meteorology from Plymouth State University in 1991, after graduating with a degree in broadcast journalism in 1989 at the University of Minnesota.
Career
Five years after obtaining her Master’s degree in meteorology, Heather landed an on-screen job as a meteorologist for the WCCO-TV network.
She worked here for a while before leaving for TWC in 1999, where she was offered a position.
Unfortunately, the meteorologist who was then based in Atlanta had to move to Georgia to work as a meteorologist for TWC.
In 2000, she began co-hosting “America’s Morning Headquarters” alongside Marshall Seese. While in TWC, Heather also produced animal welfare and per cat stories.
She stayed with the network for almost 14 years until 2012, when she was laid off as the company was then sold to three companies that decided to reduce the workforce.
In January 2016, she became a freelance meteorologist for WXIA-TV.
She stayed with the network for four years before quitting in December 2019.
As of today, Heather works as a columnist for Orange County Post. Her write-up includes topics on life, pets, and weather.
Aside from broadcasting, she is also a renowned author.
In November 2016, she released her book “HairDoodle by Heather Tesch: A Calming and Brain-Building Adult Doodle and Coloring Book, ” which earned a 5-star rating on Amazon.

Heather enjoys volunteering at a local animal shelter. She is a lover of animals and always urges people to adopt rather than buy animals.
