Custom impound N5bn truckload of codeine in Lagos
The Nigerian customs service today the 16th of August 2019 found twenty-one trailers full of Codeine and tramadol in a warehouse around Oshodi-Apapa express way.
Talking to the media, the spokesperson for the Nigerian customs service, deputy controller of custom joseph Attah said the drugs are being taken into custody for destruction.
The drugs are among substances banned by the federal government in May 2018 following addiction outcry.
The Federal government banned the importation of the substances, placing extreme control to the use of tramadol.
Attah said;
Smugglers attempted to move trailer full of codeine and other banned substances from Lagos to other part of the country.
The illegal substances were found without NAFDAC numbers in a warehouse along Oshodi-Apapa express way.
The Warehouse was sealed and evacuation of the drugs to the Federal Operations Unit (FOU), Zone A warehouse has commenced.
