Baba Ijesa is an indigene of Ile-Ife in Osun State, Nigeria.
He has been in the acting industry since the 1980s and became a professional actor after he migrated to Lagos. His comic roles in movies won him accolades and pushed him to the limelight.

He claimed that music had been part of him for a very long time, even before he started acting in movies. He said his decision to venture into music was to find another way to get his fans entertained.
For one, he was the one who did the cover song for Pick Up by Adekunle Gold. He showed the world his creativity in that song.
Baba Ijesa Biography | Controversy
On 22nd April 2021, Baba Ijesa was accused by Damilola Adekoya, another Nollywood actress, of the sexual molestation of a 14-year-old girl.

The actress claimed that the visit was under her care. She went further by saying Baba Ijesa raped the girl several times.
He was subsequently arrested the same day by the Lagos State police command.
The police claimed that Baba Ijesa raped the girl repeatedly for seven years, but Damilola Adekoya said that the actor only raped the girl twice.
He was later granted on 17th May 2021 after he met his bail condition.
