Victoria Ree Principal was born in Fukuoka, Japan, on January 3, 1950, to Bertha Ree and Victor R. Principal, who was then stationed in Fukuoka.
Her father was a United States Air Force sergeant and was often transferred to different duty stations, so growing up, Victoria moved around a lot, from London, Florida, Puerto Rico, Georgia, among others.

Due to how often her family moved, Victoria ended up attending 17 different schools.
She graduated from South Dade Senior High school in south Miami-Dade County, Florida, in 1968, before enrolling at Miami-Dade Community College, where she studied Chiropractic Medicine.
However, following a severe car accident at the age of 18, Victoria reconsidered her career choice and went on to study acting instead by moving to New York City.
Eventually, she enrolled at the London’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts before spending two years studying at England’s Royal Academy of Ballet.

Victoria’s screen career began at the age of five when she appeared in a commercial. While in high school, she became involved in modeling.
Subsequently, she moved to New York City to pursue a career in modeling and acting while schooling.
In 1970, Victoria landed the role of Marie Elena in “The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean.” She later moved to Los Angeles, California, in the following year.
Her role in the film was so impressive that it was expanded. She was also nominated for a Golden Globe for a Most Promising Newcomer.
Although Victoria decided to quit acting four years later due to being dissatisfied with her acting career, she began working as an agent instead.
In 1978, she got a role in “Fantasy Island,” which was released in 1977.
This was later followed by the position of Pamela Barnes Ewing on “Dallas,” where she became a recurring character appearing in 251 episodes of the show between 1978 and 1987.
