James Ebo Whyte was born in Kumasi to A.B Whyte, and his mother was Beatrice Aikins on 20 July 1954.
He spent most of his childhood in Kumasi before moving to Accra for his secondary Education.
Education
Whyte went to the Osu Presbyterian Senior High school and worked briefly for six years before proceeding to the University of Ghana to study statistics.
During his break from secondary studies, Whyte was selling bread to survive and raise money for his school tuition.
Career
After graduating from the University of Ghana, uncle ebo Whyte sat for the Chartered accounts and marketing examination after he had studied at home.
Soon after, Whyte started working as the head of marketing and finance in a book-selling company.
Whyte didn’t enjoy his new job; he first worked as an art director in 1974 and worked harder to pursue his passion as a playwright.

Whyte got married to his long time girlfriend, Florence, in 1983. The pair has adopted many children.
He is the lead writer at Roverman Production, and the Playwriter is not retiring soon. He s an author, playwright, and speaker. He often describes himself as a storyteller.

The Ghanaian Playwright said he did it for three years to pay for his secondary school fees.
He said I would put a round wooden tray full of bread on my head with a bit of swag, to attract customers.
He further revealed that nobody gave him a chance to be successful, so he did it for three years to pay for his secondary tuition fee. Ghana is hard for particularly if you are a young person looking to the future, he added.
