Former General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division Sokoto arrested.

The Nigerian Military Police has detained the former General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division Sokoto, Major General Hakeem Otiki.

He was arrested yesterday the 24th of July 2019 over the missing money allegedly stolen by soldiers under his command. 

According to the Nigerian army, The money was allegedly stolen by his soldiers during an escort duty from Sokoto to Kaduna.

The Defence Spokesman confirmed yesterday while talking to the media that the stolen money is still being investigated by the force, but didnā€™t give further details.

The names of the soldiers that absconded with the money were Cpl. Gabriel Oluwaniyi, Cpl. Mohammed Aminu, LCpl. Commander Haruna, LCpl. Oluji Joshua, and LCpl. Hayatudeen.

The arrested GOC is is being quizzed over his alleged involvement into the stolen fund from the operational logistics for the Division.
