Femi Falana revealed that the embattled activist and journalist, Omoyele Sowore is expected to be released later today after meeting his bail conditions.
I have already explained to the learned prosecuting counsel that we are encumbered by the refusal of the State Security Service to allow us to prepare for the defence of the defendants.
I had already asked my learned counsel for the prosecution, that we are confident that the defendants will be freed today (Wednesday) from the custody of the SSS having met the bail conditions imposed on them by this honourable court.
Once they are liberated from the custody of the SSS, we will be in a position to take full instruction from them
Sowore’s bail condition was reduced to N20m from N100m.
Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu of the federal high court in Abuja had on the 4th of October 2019 ordered the publisher of Sahara reporter not to address any rally or travel out of Abuja as part of his bail conditions.
While setting the bail at N100m, Justice Ojukwu said N50million should be deposited in the court’s account before Sowore could be released from Department of State (DSS) custody.
