Olaseyi Abiodun Makinde, popularly known as Seyi Makinde, was born on Christmas day, December 25, 1967.
He has two older siblings, making him the third child of the family.
His late father, Pa Olatunbosun Makinde, was a teacher turned accountant. His mother was Madam Abigail Makinde.
Seyi Makinde EDUCATION
He first attended St. Paul Primary School in Ibadan.
He then proceeded to St. Michael Primary School, also in Ibadan, to complete his primary education.
After that, he went to Bishop Phillips academy to complete his secondary education.

Shortly after, he gained admission to the University of Lagos to study Electrical Engineering, which gave him his bachelor’s degree.
Seyi then decided to further his education by going to the Industrial Control Services in Texas, majoring in Safety Shutdown System.
He then went to Lagos Business School, known then, to study Analytical Competence for Managing Operations.
From 2000-2005, he trained in Automation, learned the Fundamentals Of Crude Sampling and Understanding and Solving Business Problems.
The last course mentioned above he did in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, popularly known as MIT.
Careers
In between all his schooling, he still managed to work in business organizations.

After completing his NYSC service at Shell Petroleum, he got retained as a pupil engineer.
He handled different businesses from different people until 1997 when he officially established his business organization, Makon Engineering And Technically Services Limited, Also know as METS.
He is currently the manager of Makon Group of Companies and also the present governor of Oyo State.
Seyi Makinde Political Career
Makinde’s interest in politics started to grow when he decided to contest the Oyo South Senatorial seat while being under the party of the ANPP.
However, he lost the election to Kamoru Adedibu, who then was under the platform of PDP.
Seyi decided to try again in 2014 after offering to get a governorship ticket from PDP, which was not given to him.
This made him defect to SDP, where he became the governorship candidate. Unfortunately, he lost again to Abiola Ajimobi.
Despite all his losses, Seyi didn’t quit being a politician.
After a long and highly contemplated discussion with the Oyo state leaders and elders of the SDP in 2017, Seyi then decided to defect back to PDP.

Not long after returning to PDP, he became the primary gubernatorial candidate for PDP, closely contesting against Adebayo Adelabu (APC).
He was elected and sworn into office on democracy day, May 29, 2019, becoming the next governor of Oyo state after Abiola Ajimobi, who spent eight years in office.
Seyi Makinde’s Personal Life
Makinde is married to Engr. Tamunominini Makinde, the couple, is blessed with three children, two girls and a boy.
