Yoruba Council of Elders has rejected the newly elected Yoruba leader.
In a statement released to vanguard, the General Secretary of the Yoruba Council of Elders, Dr. Kunle Olajide, dismissed the appointment of Prof. Akintoye as the Yoruba leader.
He asked, is he a political academic, traditional or cultural leader, or professional?
According to Olajide, A group cannot gather together in a hotel and choose a leader for the Yoruba Nation, which is the largest ethnic group in Nigeria, and Africa.
He said for such an exercise to be practice, the traditional rulers, labor leaders, women bodies, business barons must be seated.
A couple of days ago, the second republic senator, Prof Adebanji Akintoye, won the election and was appointed the new Yoruba leader to replace Abraham Adesanya.
Prof Adebanji Akintoye defeated Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu with 71 votes.
