Nigerian Pastor Arrested by UK Police awarded £2,500 for wrongful arrest
A Nigerian street preacher arrested by the UK police for breach of peace has been awarded £2,500 for wrongful arrest.
Pastor Oluwole Ilesanmi was preaching outside Southgate tube station in North London in February.
It was reported that police were called on the 64 years old former dentist for allegedly making hate speech.
The police in the arrest video of the Pastor that went viral said;
“I am going to require you to go away.”
Pastor ilesanmi however, replied to the police officer that “he can never.”
The police further said
“Then I will arrest you for breach of peace, and you are causing the problem, you are disturbing people’s days and breaching their peace.”
However, the Pastor has now been given a £2,500 payout for wrongful arrest, humiliating and distressing treatment.
