Mompha regains freedom after perfecting his bail conditions

Nigerian Instagram influencer Ismaila Mustapha popularly known as Mompha, has finally regained his freedom from prison.


The Influencer was arrested on 18th October 2019 at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja, on his way to Dubai Emirate after series of intelligence reports received by the Economic and financial crime commission (EFCC).

Five wristwatches worth over eighty million Naira was recovered from him.

The anti-graft agency claimed Mompha perpetrated his fraudulent activities under the guise of being a bureau de change operator. 

EFCC also revealed that he runs the BDC business with his siblings as a decoy to launder his proceeds of crime

Mompha was charged to court by the Economic and financial crime commission (EFCC) on 14 counts of fraud-related offenses, including an alleged N33 billion fraud.

The Entrepreneur pleaded not guilty at the Federal high court sitting in Lagos.

He was granted N100m bail on the 29th November 2019.

In a video going viral on social media, Mompha was seen coming out of a prison facility.

In a statement released by the EFCC on their twitter account, shortly after his arrest quoted below:

Actionable cross-border intelligence received from collaborative law enforcement agencies about his alleged involvement in the criminal activities further strengthened our suspicion.

Mompha, “has volunteered useful information to the operatives and has admitted to be reasonably involved in the first two cases he was alleged to be involved.
