Like others in the world, some Nigerian celebrities have gotten in trouble with the law, some for light charges while others for not-so-soft charges.

Nigerian Celebrities Who Have Been To Prison
- Dammy Krane
Dammy Krane was once a music sensation in Nigeria. However, his career wasn’t as successful as we had hoped it to be.
In June 2017, Dammy Krane was arrested for credit card scam, fraud, and theft in Miami.
It was gathered that the singer tried booking a private jet with five credit cards that were not his.

However, after meeting his bail condition of $7500, he was released, and a trial by jury was conducted.
In 2019, Dammy Krane was rearrested in Lagos, Nigeria, on charges of threat to life, defamation, and conducts likely to cause a breach of public peace.
He was, however, granted bail.
- Sinzu
Babalola Falemi, popularly known as Sinzu, is a Nigerian rapper arrested and jailed for aggravated identity theft in the U.S. for two years.
He was said to have stolen $15,388 from unsuspecting victims through bank cards as he was found with over 15 stolen bank cards.
As a result, Sinzu spent two years in jail.
However, in 2014, he was rearrested for fraudulently withdrawing $300 from an ATM at a supermarket.
This time Sinzu was released in March 2018.
- Naira Marley
It is one recent arrest many Nigerian would not forget in a long time.
Azeez Adeshina Fashola, known professionally as Naira Marley, was arrested alongside singer Zlatan on Internet fraud, popularly known as “yahoo yahoo.”
However, after spending few days In prison, the singer was released on bail.
- Ibinabo Fiberesima
Nollywood actress ibinabo Fiberesima was arrested for manslaughter and reckless driving, which led to the death of a certain Giwa Suraj.
In 2016, she was sentenced to a five-year prison term. She was, however, granted bail of N2 million and two sureties in like sum.
- Uche Odoputa
In 2007, Nollywood actor Uche Odoputa was arrested and sentenced to 8 months in jail to possess cocaine at the international airport Lagos.
According to the actor, he was not getting the money he needed from Nollywood, so he decided to listen to his friend’s advice and traffic drugs which got him into trouble.
- Lola Margaret
Shortly after Dammy Krane’s arrest, Lola Margaret was arrested in the USA for wired fraud.
According to reports, the actress had suspicious amounts of money wired to her account.
It got the attention of detectives, who took her in for interrogation and learned the Yoruba actress was involved in card fraud.
It led to her deportation back to the country.

- Godwin
Another Nigerian rapper with a criminal record is Godwin.
He was arrested in 2009 for burgling a house in the U.S. Some of the stolen items from home were found in his car.
Godwin was locked up for three years before being released in 2011.
- Skales
In 2016, Nigerian rapper Raoul John Njenga-Njeng popularly known as Skales, was arrested on charges of defrauding his record label, Baseline Records.
The rapper was arrested alongside his manager, and the duo was accused of diverting the record label funds.
After some time, the rapper was eventually freed.
- Yetunde Wunmi
Nollywood actress, Taiwo Akinwande, popularly known as Yetunde Wunmi, was arrested on her way to London for cocaine trafficking.
The actress who was found guilty was sentenced to three years imprisonment.
