The above statement made rounds on the internet and was later discovered to be a hoax.
Lil Tjay is very much alive and still makes posts on his social media handles.
Who is Lil Tjay ?
Lil Tjay who’s real name is Tione Merritt, was born on the 30th of April,2001.
The rapper grew up in the boogie down the Bronx in New York City.
He spent his early teenage years fighting and joining in the petty robbery, which then landed him in a detention center in 2016; he claimed that he practiced the fundamentals of rapping while he was in jail.

After spending his time in the detention center, he was released in late 2017, and he began releasing music on Soundcloud.
When he started on SoundCloud, he barely had any social media presence, and the only platform he used was Facebook.
On the second day of releasing the song, he had 5,000 streams, and soon it became a massive hit.
In just two years, Tjay became one of the biggest breakout rappers as of 2019.

The next year he started releasing singles that racked up millions of plays. Notable amongst his singles was “Resume.”
He joined the Columbia Records label and gradually gained followings from young fans.
He stole the scene upon his appearance on Polo G’s hit single “Pop Out,” which was top 10 on Billboards Hot R&B/Hip-hop songs Chart.
He had features alongside French Montana and Pop smoke.
