Brig-Gen. Francis Omata is famous after the Lagos State 20th October 2020 massacre in which at least 15 people reported having allegedly being killed by a team of soldiers led by the Brigadier General of the Nigerian army.
According to an eye witness, a celebrity known as Dj Switch went live on Instagram, alleging that Brig-Gen Francis Omata’s soldiers shot the injured protester she was with.

He is the Training officer of 81 Division Headquarters in Lagos, graduated from the National Academy, Kaduna, and had his secondary education at the Federal Government College in Okigwe, Imo State.

Lagos youths were protesting peacefully when attacked by the massive fire of Machine guns from the Nigerian army and Nigerian police officers.
Brig. Gen Francis Omata’s name came up during Dj switch Instagram live video, in which she detailed the atrocities befell on the protesters.
He allegedly led soldiers to the Lekki Tollgate, where many unarmed, unsuspecting protesters died.
Brig-Gen. Francis Omata attained the position of a brigadier general on 11th November 2019.

Before his promotion, he was a member of a special Task Force, Operation Safe Haven.
The task force is in charge of security in Plateau, Bauchi, and Kaduna states.
What did Omata say about the allegation?
However, Omata denied the allegation; he said he went to the scene to pull back soldiers from the 65 Battalion Bonny Camp.
Clarifying further, Omata disclosed that the soldier’s leader is Lt Col S. O Bello, their commanding officer.
