Who was Keyona Griffin?
Keyona was born on March 8, 1994, in the United States. At the time of her death, she was 25 years old.
She was raised alongside her brother Sanford Cummings II. Her mother is Onyah Griffin, and her father is not known to the public.
On 13 March 2019, Keyona made a call to the emergency service 911 to report that her aunt had been killed in their house in Grand Rapids.
To the call operator, Keyona didn’t show any sign that she was in any immediate danger.
Three Grand Rapids police officers arrived at their house on 553 Sheldon Avenue SE near Buckley Street 7 minutes 41 seconds after she ended her call with the 911 call operator.

What happened to Keyona Griffin?
When the officers arrived, there was no reason for them to break in, they knocked on the door three times, but the door was locked, and also thought maybe Keyona had any mental-related health issues.
Three minutes after they arrived, they left the compound, making no contact with anyone.
Meanwhile, two minutes after they left, Keyona’s brother Sanford Cummings II found the body of Keyona on the floor of one of their bedroom upstairs with at least four gunshots with one on Keyona’s face and called 911 to report the incident.
The police came back to the crime scene and also found Keyona’s aunt’s body in another room covered with a blanket. Her aunt had been shot in the back of the head.
Keyona’s family believed the police didn’t act the way they should have especially after Keyona reported during the call that her aunt had been killed in their house.

Was Keyona Griffin’s killer caught?
After the death of Keyona went public, people started wondering if Keyona Griffin’s murder suspect was caught.
After the discovery of the bodies of both Keyona and her aunt Cherletta, the police revealed that a suspected murderer has been identified.
A 45 years old man named Darrell Demon Brown was a person of interest in the murder. Darrell was 45 years when he was declared wanted for the double homicide.
It was revealed that Cherletta and Darrell were dating. The pair met at the library and started dating. Darrell was living at the same house as Cherletta and Keyona before the unfortunate incident.
The police during a search of the crime scene found an empty Hi-Point gun box inside Cherletta’s bedroom. The empty Hi-Point gun was found in a locker filled with men’s clothes. A box of ammunition was also found at the crime scene.
