Just in…And Fatoyinbo Steps Down amid Rape Allegation

Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo, announced today through a statement released to the media that he’ stepping down from the church pulpit over rape allegation.

The pastor who is the founder of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) said in his earlier statement that the church policy to ignore rumours on social media as they knew most allegations are extort church money, and himself through blackmail, harassment and intimidation.

The pastor has been in controversies of recent. Busola Dakolo wife of Timi Dakolo, a Nigerian singer had last Friday came out to reveal that pastor Fatoyinbo had allegedly raped her 20 years ago.

Fatoyinbo Steps Down over Rape Allegation

Yesterday the second sunday since the allegation was made, thousands of protesters stormed the church branch in Lagos and Abuja in a bid to pressure the pastor in stepping down.

In his statement released on his official twitter account, Fatoyinbo said he has taken the decision to take a leave of absence from the church, Fatoyinbo wrote: “The past few days have been very sobering on me. I have taken time to seek spiritual counsel form Christian leaders around the world who feel very concerned about the ongoing report in the media.

“I have solicited their guidance on actions I should take that is honoring to our Lord Jesus Christ and the work he has called me to do.

“Drawing from their counsel and that of the leadership of COZA and owing to my love for Lord’s work and the sacred honor of my calling I have decided to take a leave of absence from the pulpit of the church.

“Although it would break my heart to tatters to stay a day without doing ministry I believe it is the right thing to do at this time.
