Jonathan Scott Age
Jonathan Silver Scott was born April 28, 1978, just four minutes before his identical twin brother Andrew (popularly called Drew), in British Columbia.
He was born into the family of Jim and Joanne Scott, with an older brother JD.
His father, Jim, had dreams of being a cowboy and emigrated from Scotland to Canada.
Jim then joined the film industry as an assistant director, stuntman, and actor till around the 1970s when he decided to focus on his family.
They all moved to a horse farm in the town of Maple Ridge, British Columbia. Jonathan’s mother worked as a paralegal in Vancouver at this time.
When the twins turned seven, their father encouraged them to get jobs; they searched for one and eventually decided to start a business with their mother called JAM (Jon, Andrew, and Mom).
They made nylon-wrapped clothes hangers and sold them door to door, and they eventually sold thousands to a woman who sold American paraphernalia in Japan.
The twins continued their job search and resorted to performing as child clowns in parades.
After completing the local parks and recreation department classes, they were hired at $10 per gig. Eventually, they made about $100 per hour.
Jonathan became tired of making himself up and started to draw closer to being a performer. Then, growing up, he saw a magic show on New year’s Eve which inspired him.
By the age of ten, Jonathan had begun making his magic props. He began using a barn as a workshop for large-scale illusions when he turned fifteen.
He studied volumes of Magic courses and became friends with David Wilson and Shawn Farquhar, professional illusionists.
He joined the Vancouver magic circle and International Brotherhood of Magicians, which led to his being awarded the third best stage performer of the Pacific Coast Association of Magicians at 16.

At 14, Jonathan Scott moved with his father to Alberta, building the family’s dream house. He took on the stage name Jonathan Silver at this point and used it privately also.
Unfortunately, his school grades began to decline, so he moved back to Maple Ridge to complete his high school, only returning to Alberta with his friend Pedro during breaks to assist in the construction process.
The boys played on the basketball and volleyball teams in school, although Jonathan had an interest in theater and clubs, where he was president of student government and various committees.
After graduation, the twins left for the University of Calgary, just as the family moved to their new home.
Jonathan majored in business management at the University, despite having an interest in entertainment.
Jonathan Scott – Career
The twins decided to venture into real estate; during their first semester in college, they purchased a seven-bedroom property, cleared and repaired it before selling it a year later at a profit of $50,000.
At 19, Jonathan began building large-scale illusions, hoping to develop them into a touring theater show.
A magician met up with him when he needed a management company to work with and convinced him to rent him several of his illusions after some negotiations.
Unfortunately, the man stole the whole production, destroying the show and leaving Jonathan with a debt of $80,000.
After having a successful lawsuit, Jonathan was still unable to collect what he was owed, the whole event left him depressed and embarrassed, and he soon filed for bankruptcy (a decision he regrets).
Drew was able to convince him to join him as a flight attendant at WestJet. It was convenient, and they kept flipping houses.
Jonathan transferred to the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and the Professional Home Builders Institute to study construction and design and became a licensed contractor.
The twins renovated and sold properties. As a result, drew became a licensed realtor, and Jonathan acquired his license soon after.
Still, in the same year, the twins founded Scott Real Estate Inc., a company to provide clients with a “one-stop-shop” for services in the buying, selling, and renovation of homes and design consulting and staging open houses.
Jonathan remained in Calgary to run the business.
Drew was auditioned for a show called Realtor Idol, a show based on the format used for American Idol.
The show did not become a reality till the producers learned of his twin brother, they then developed a show centered around the twins called My Dream Home, and later on, the show Property Brothers was started.
In 2010 they started their own company Scott Brothers Entertainment and expanded it to a TV, film, and production company in the US and Canada.
They made spinoffs for Property Brothers: Buying and Selling (2012 – present) and Brother vs. Brother (2013 – present). By 2014, they had 26 million viewers.
In 2013 they hosted radio shows, and by 2016, their brands had revenues of over $100 million. In addition, the twins are sought out to speak on lectures and workshops.
The first book, “Dream Home,” was written in 2015, and the following year, their second book, It Takes Two: Our Story, a memoir, was released in September 2017.
In addition, Jonathan revealed that he and Drew had written an illustrated children’s book, Builder Brothers: Big Plans.
The twins recorded two country singles, “Hold On” and “Let the Night Shine In.” Hold On” hit number 38 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart.
They released a third song, “My House,” featuring Eric Paslay.
