How he started
He is a member of the Kosoko royal family of Lagos Island. He was born in Lagos on the 12th January 1954 and raised here.
He grew up in the Ebute Metta area of Lagos State and had his state education. Jide Kosoko was a student of Yaba College of Technology, where he studied Business Administration.
Acting career
His acting career started while he was still a child, as far back as 1964 when he was still a 10-year-old boy. His first acting experience was in a television production named Makanjuola.
He has also featured in many Nollywood movies over the years; he has acted in both English and Yoruba Nollywood movies. He got his inspiration from Hubert Ogunde as he grew older.
As a child, he was invited to audition for Makanjuola by an Ifelodun Traveling Theatre troupe member. He accepted the invitation and was selected for a role in the movie. He played a character called Alabi.

Later, he participated in movies by the Awada Kerikeri group; the group was made up of Oga Bello, Lanre Hassan, and Sunday Omobolanle (Baba Sala).
Furthermore, he made guest appearances on New Masquerade, a TV show, and later formed his theatre troupe in 1972.
Jide Kosoko has so many movies to his name.
He produced a movie titled Ogun Ahoyaya and also made several stages plays. He created his films during the video film era, and that was his rise to popularity.
One other movie credited to him is Asiri Nla, which he produced in 1992. He was given a role in Asewo to re Mecca and It Oluwa Nile part 2, a movie directed by Tunde Kelani.
