Although she rejected the title, she is popularly referred to as the “Face of Women’s MMA.

Gina was born on April 16, 1982, in Dallas, Texas, in the United States. However, she grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Her mother is Dana Joy Carson, and her father, Glenn Carano, is a former professional football player and a casino executive.
Her parents got divorced when she was 7, so her mother raised Gina. She is the middle child of three sisters.

Gina started her MMA career in Muay Thai, and it was introduced to her by her then-boyfriend Kelvin Ross, a pro-Muay Thai fighter.
With a record of 12-1-1, She was invited by Jamie Levine to participate in the first-ever sanctioned female “Mixed Martial Arts” in Nevada.
Amazingly she won her first fight, which was against Leticia Pestova, in 38 seconds.
Gina was later invited to the Works Pro Fighting Show in Las Vegas, fighting Rosi Sexton.
Like the first fight, she won the battle, this time late in the second round.
Another battle was fixed on December 8, 2006, where she was to face Elaina Maxwell on a fight known as the first female fight at Strike force: Triple Threat.

Gina won the battle on a unanimous decision, but critics criticized the win. As a result, a second match was arranged, and Gina defeated Elaina for the second time.
On February 10, 2007, she fought with Julie Kedzie on a Showtime EliteXC card called the “Fight of the Night.”
Gina defeated Julie via a unanimous decision in what was referred to as the first televised female fight on showtime.
Unfortunately, a scheduled flight for June 2, 2007, against Jan Finney was canceled due to Gina taking ill.
It was later revealed that the MMA fighter was rushed to the hospital for dehydration.
Gina, on September 15, 2007, fought and defeated Tonya Evinger on the Showtime EliteXC card.

Her fight against Kelly Kobold was met with controversies over Gina meeting the required weight, but thanks to the help of a nutritionist she hired, at the weigh-in for the fight on October 3, 2008, Gina weighed 141 pounds (64 kg) which successfully made the weight.
Like some of her previous battles, after three rounds, Gina won by unanimous decision.
It was announced that Strikeforce had purchased the assets of ProElite, making Gina and other fighters within the defunct promotion linked with Strikeforce contractually.
In 2009, Strikeforce announced a fight between Gina Carano and Cris Cyborg.
The battle took place on August 15, 2009, and was for the title of “Strikeforce Women’s Lightweight Championship,” this title was later renamed the “Strikeforce Women’s Middleweight Championship.”
Unfortunately, Gina lost the fight to Cyborg by TKO in the first round, and this was her first-ever loss in her professional MMA career.
Since the August 2009 match, Gina has not been involved in any more fights, although she still has four fights under her contract with UFO through her old Strikeforce contract.

Gina Carano’s transition into the film industry started in 2005, where she starred in “Ring Girls,” a film based on actual events.
After that, she appeared as “Crush” in the NBC show “American Gladiators” and played the role of “Natasha” in “Command & Conquer Red Alert 3”.
In 2009, Gina was featured in Micheal Jai White’s film, “Blood and Bones.” Her breakthrough came in 2011 when she landed her first significant role as the lead actress of the action thriller “Haywire.”
She got another lead role in the 2012 film “In the Blood” another action thriller. That same year, Gina was the lead in an all-female ensemble of the female version of “The Expendables.”
In 2013, she was featured in Fast & Furious 6 and also appeared in the 2013-2014 Fox series “Almost Human” episode “Unbound,” playing the role of Danica, an XRN combat android.
Gina co-starred in the 2015 film “Extraction” and played the role of “Angel Dust” in the 2016 film Deadpool.
Gina graced the screen between 2019-2020 in the Disney and Space Western television series, “The Mandalorian,” where she played the role of “Cara Dune” in the first two seasons.
However, due to a series of controversial posts made by the actress on her social media handle, Lucasfilm announced in 2021 that she would no longer be featured in future Star Wars Media.
A week after Lucasfilm severed ties with Gina, she announced a new film project with a conservative media company titled “The Daily Wire.”
