EFCC and FBI joint operation in Owerri led to the arrest of 33 internet fraudsters

Thirty-three internet fraudsters popularly known as yahoo was arrested early on Friday in a joint operation by the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Operatives of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Officers surrounded the homes of the suspected internet fraudsters and arrested the suspects without incident.

It is not clear whose custody the suspects are in, but it was gathered that the EFCC operatives are from the southeast Zonal office in Enugu State.

Items recovered from the suspects include laptops and phones.

It is coming a few hours after the EFCC disclosed that one of the most wanted suspects by the FBI was arrested in Ilorin, Kwara State.

Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) revealed this at a press conference earlier today to explain the collaboration between the anti-graft agency and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Acting chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, represented by Ilorin Zonal Head of the commission. Mr. Isyaku Sharu further disclosed that one of the most wanted suspects by the FBI was arrested in Ilorin, Kwara State.

He said the FBI asked the anti-graft agency for assistance and possible arrest of two suspects on their list.

The suspect identified as Oyediran Joseph had benefited about N60million from the fraud through western union transfer.
