Daisy Jazz Isobel Ridley was born on April 10, 1992, and In Westminster, she grew up in Maida Vale.

She was born into the family of Christopher Ridley, a photographer, and Louise (née Fawkner-Corbett), who worked in a bank as an internal communicator.

She is the youngest of three daughters, two older sisters, Kika Rose and Poppy Sophia, and two older half-sisters.

Her mother’s family were landed gentry with a military and medical background.

Ridley stated that while growing up, her favorite film was Matilda (1996); though she wasn’t exactly a Star Wars fan while growing up, she dedicated her time to following the Harry Potter series.

She won a scholarship for Performing Arts at Tring Park School in Hertfordshire, which she attended aged nine to eighteen.

Ridley worked as a barmaid in London for nearly two years, and in 2016 began studying at the Open University for a Bachelor of Arts in social science.

She began acting with minor roles in television programs and appeared in Blue Season, which was added to the Sci-fi London 48-Hour Film Challenge.

Ridley played the lead role in Lifesaver, a film nominated for BAFTA Awards. She also appeared in Wiley’s music video for the song “Light’s On.” She then went on to make her film debut in the 2015 British horror film “Scrawl.”

In April 2014, Ridley was cast as Rey, one of the lead characters in “The Force Awakens.”

She then began filming her scenes in May 2014 at Pinewood Studios, Buckinghamshire; the movie was a major box-office hit, with international revenues of over $2 billion, the highest-grossing film of 2015.

She is not expected to play the role again after this film. Ridley costarred in the movie “Chaos Walking” in 2021 and played the role of Viola Eade alongside Tom Holland.

The film was delayed due to poor test screenings and also due to the pandemic.

Ridley lives in Primrose Hill, London. She began a relationship with a fellow actor of Murder on the Orient Express, Tom Bateman, in 2017.

In 2016 Ridley talked about her illness; she revealed she was diagnosed with endometriosis and polycystic ovary syndrome at age 15, which required she goes through multiple laparoscopic surgeries. She further stated that it left her with low confidence due to the acne that followed.

She received backlash in 2016, following the Teen Choice Award, which paid tribute to victims of gun violence.

Ridley posted an anti-gun violence message on both Instagram and Facebook, which made critics accuse her of hypocrisy while referencing the violence shown in Star Wars.

She quitted social media at this point in response to the harassment saying social media is “highly unhealthy for people’s mental health,” including hers. She further added that she would never return to social media.
