How you take care of your body is your hygiene. It includes the everyday basic stuff we do, like bathing, brushing teeth, keeping our clothes clean.

Personal hygiene is what prevents you from falling ill after coming in contact with the millions of germs, bacteria, and viruses we come in contact with daily.

Our idea of personal hygiene differs. However, these are categories you can start building your hygiene habits from:

  • Toilet Hygiene


The toilet has many germs, so ensure you wash your hands after you use the restroom.

It is not enough to wash your hands with ordinary water after using the bathroom; instead, scrub with soap for 20 – 30 seconds for a better result.

If there isn’t running water or soap, then use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

  • Nail Hygiene


Trimming and keeping your nails clean helps prevent spreading germs into your mouth and another opening in your body.

Keep your nails short; avoid biting them because you can be taking germs into your mouth.


Brush under your nail or clean them with a washcloth to prevent dirt and germs from building up in them.
