Charles Alexandre Rockwell was born August 18, 1956, in Boston, Massachusetts, U.S. His grandfather is Alexandre Alexeieff, a Russian animator who invented the pinscreen, while his grandmother was an artist and a stage actress in Paris.
His father was also a filmmaker and an actor, while Svetlana Rockwell’s mother was a painter. From his childhood, Rockwell grew up in Cambridge and, in his 20s, moved to New York City.

Career
Rockwell grew up in a family of actors and producers, and it’s no surprise he ventured into that professional.
In his early 20s, he traveled alongside his grandfather to “Paris,” where he studied craft from “Cinematheque Francois.” His career as a film producer began in the 80s when he created short stories.
His work was acknowledged at “Boston’s Institute” and the “New York City’s Association of Independent Video and Film.”
As a result of this success, his first feature film, “Lenz,” produced in 1882, incorporated in Berlin Film Festival, was a commercial hit.
In 1983, he made another film titled “Hero” this soon became a hit and won the 1984 “Special Jury” Prize at the U.S. Film Festival.
His next film, “The Soup,” released in 1992, was equally a success. The film, which was released at “The Sundance Film Festival, was received with praises.
Rockwell’s next film was in 1994, which was ” Somebody to Love,” unfortunately, it was less successful than the previous films. In 1995, he released “Four Rooms,” which was quite popular.
His next hit film came in 2002, with “13 Moons”, a comedy featuring strong ensemble cases including” Karyn Parsons, “whom he later married.
Rockwell continued to experience more success with his films, 2010 “Pete Smalls is Dead,” being one of them, his latest film was released in 2013, the famous ” Little Feet’s” which featured his two kids among the casts.
After that, he seems to have taken a break from the cinema as he released no work for seven years until 2020, when he released his film “Sweet Thing.”
