Appeal Court dethroned Ekiti Monarch
The Court of Nigeria, sitting in Ekiti has dethroned Ekiti Monarch.
The Owa of Odo Ayedun, Oba Ilesanmi Ajibade was dethroned yesterday, the 25th of June 2019 by the Appeal court in Ekiti.
Presiding over the case, Justice E. Dawodu- Williams said the selection process that led to Oba Ilesanmi emergence as the monarch was wrong.
The Justice ordered the state government to conduct another selection process for a new king in the area.
The Judge further said the cancellation of the selection that produced An assistant diector in Ekiti ministry of Information, Prince Kunle Adeniyi, was wrong and the state government shouldn’t have cancelled it as it wasn’t marred by violence.
Ekiti High Court had earlier ruled that the selection of Oba Ilesanmi wrong.
The court upheld the high court decision and ordered the state government to conduct a new selection process for a new king
Oba Ilesanmi Ajibade, The Owa of Odo Ayedun was on the throne for ten years before been dethroned yesterday the 25th of June 2019 by the court sitting in Ekiti State, Nigeria by justice E. Dawodu- Williams.
