The car was traveling at high-speed. It was a Porsche 911, Carrera. The car is said to go from 0 miles an hour to 60 miles an hour in seconds.

Catsouras had never driven the car before, and her parents made sure she never did. Her father came home as soon as he could after her mother called him. With the help of 9-1-1, they all began searching for their daughter.

It was reported that she was going at a hundred miles an hour and had hit a Honda Civic, which made her lose control of the whole car.
She kept slamming into things and buildings until the car finally came to her complete stop with her dead body inside.
She had some alcohol and cocaine elements in her system in her autopsy report.
The family then suffered a series of online harassments from anonymous trolls, which greatly affected their family, especially the kids. It eventually led to the withdrawal of their kids from school.
On January 30, 2012, however, the family received the amount of 2.37 million dollars in damages as compensation for the online harassment they had to suffer.
