His full name is Abel Makkonen Tesfaye. He started his career with three mixtapes, “House of Balloons”, “Thursday”, and “Echoes of Silence” all in 2011 which boost his career positively.
After his mixtapes, The Weekend released many more songs.
His debut studio album sold over 96,000 copies within a week, meanwhile, his compilation album, “Trilogy went platinum in Canada and America, and within a week, it sold 86,000 copies and eventually reached double platinum status in Canada.
