Having your name on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is one of the most significant achievements any Hollywood star can dream of.
It simply means that their career has reached the height of success, their talent has been recognized by the global audience, now who wouldn’t want that?
The following celebrities of cause have turned down the opportunity to have their names displayed on the sidewalks of Hollywood Boulevard.

- Madonna
Madonna was breaking new records in the “80s and 90s” with her music and acting.
It’s no surprise that in 1990, she was nominated by a group of critics to be recognized on the promenade.
However, she turned down the nomination without giving a reason.
- Whitney Houston
One of the greatest singers of all time, Whitney Houston, was nominated in 1995 to have her name in Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The late singer never reaches out to the Chamber of Commerce to set a date for the awarding event.
The deadline to receive her star expired; even after the deadline passed, the producer of the tourist attraction was still open to discussion but heard nothing from the singer nor her family.
However, during an interview, it was revealed that Whitney did not want people walking on her name.
That was her reason for not fancying the idea.
- Bruce Springsteen
Although he accepted to have his name on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, he didn’t show up for the public ceremony to receive it, as it was being awarded.
Music legend Bruce Springsteen didn’t receive his recognition due to his absence from the event.
As a result of this, a policy was made that all stars must accept their award.

Although he was nominated and selected on different occasions to have his name on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, actor, producer, and director Clint Eastward always decline the offer.
Clint spent many years in the industry and has contributed to the success of many movies too since the 1960s.
It’s no surprise he keeps being nominated, but the actor wants nothing to do with that.

Just like the other actors, Julia Roberts didn’t care if she has her name on the Hollywood Walk of Fame or not.
The award-winning actress was nominated in June 2020, but she turned down the offer without reason.

Although he agreed to have his name added to the Hollywood Walk of Fame, a date was never agreed on for the ceremony.
After his passing away, the country singer who had been a big hit in the ’70s, his family agreed to have a posthumous star installed for him in 2014.
- Denzel Washington
Award-winning actor and director Denzel Washington has rightfully earned his star on Hollywood Blvd; despite this, the actor seems not interested in having his name there.
Although he was nominated to have his name added on the Walk of fame, Denzel hasn’t set a date for the public ceremony.

Like Denzel Washington, Hollywood actor George Clooney can’t seem to set a date for the unveiling of his star on the Walk of fame.
The nominated actor has his star placed on hold as he is yet to proceed with the ceremony.
- Prince
American memorable singer Prince doesn’t seem to have a place in the Walk of fame.
It isn’t because the late star wasn’t nominated; the event to unveil his lead, which was to occur in 1999, didn’t hold because the singer turned down the initiative saying that it wasn’t his time yet.

- Muhammad Ali
Famous boxer Muhammad Ali did not like the idea of people walking on the name “Muhammad” for religious reasons.
So even though the boxer did agree to have his star in Hollywood, the aspect of people walking on the name Muhammad wasn’t acceptable to the fighter; that’s why he is the first and only celebrity to have his name placed on a wall instead of the sidewalk.
