25 LAUTECH students arrested for Internet Fraud
The Economic and Financial crimes Commission arrested 25 students for internet fraud.
In a statement released by the EFCC,
The suspects between 18 to 29 years old, were arrested after an intelligence report about their online activities.
The EFCC said the report was investigated using “sophisticated equipment”.
The EFCC said they have been monitoring the activities of the suspects for several months.
One of the suspects identified as ismail, took the EFCC operatives to the hostel where many of the suspects were arrested.
Some of the suspect allegedly tried to escape during EFCC’s raid but were arrested in the process.
items recovered from the suspects which EFCC said was accrued from their illegal activities online includes a 4matic Benz, a Toyota Camry, a Toyota Corolla, two Macbook computers, two iPads, two iPhones and many other documents, which will be subjected to forensic analysis.
The suspected internet fraudsters are currently in EFCC custody and they will be charged to court.
