Madagascar cancels friendly football match against South Africa

Madagascar has joined Zambia to call off a close football match against South Africa.

South Africa was to play a friendly match against Zambia national football team but was canceled on Tuesday due to xenophobic attacks.

 Madagascar was approached as the replacement for the friendly match.

The organizers announced free entry for supporters attending the match at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto.

Meanwhile, Madagascar has announced their withdrawal from the friendly match.

It was revealed in a statement by the Madagascar football federation (FMF) citing security reasons.

South Africa football federation took to twitter to confirm the football match’s cancellation between the national teams.

It is coming a few days after Three Nigerians were killed during an attack on foreigners in South Africa.

One of the people killed was burned alive. 

Xenophobic: Madagascar cancels friendly football match against South Africa

The attack on foreigners started on Sunday morning, where angry mobs stormed foreign businesses and Loot.

The attacks are believed to have been carried out by the Zulu hostel dwellers.

One of the Nigerian businesses affected was a Nigerian car dealer, whereby his companies were set ablaze.

The attack spread across the second day before the security operatives got involved, dispersing the angry Mob.

Meanwhile, the leader of South African Economic Freedom Fighters, EFF, in a statement, condemned the attack.

He said whether you are from South Africa or Zimbabwe, this is your home. He, therefore, calls for an end to self-hate. He said, Africa, we are one, Nigerians are our brothers.

This is coming three weeks after the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) came out in numbers to lock down South African companies in protest of the Xenophobic attack on Nigerians.
