Just in: Oyetola Defeats Adeleke In Supreme Court

Nigeria’s Supreme Court has given final judgement on the 2018 governorship election held in Osun State.

Presiding over the case, justice Rhodes Vivour gave the the final judgement today the 5th of July 2019.


He affirmed the victory of Oyetola, and also nullified tribunal judgement that declared Adeleke the winner of the governorship election in Osun State.

The full result of the election was revealed after rerun was conducted in four local government the election had been cancelled.

Gboyega Oyetola of the APC was declared the winner by INEC returning officer, Prof. Joseph Fuwape on the 27th September 2018,

But the election tribunal sitting in Abuja over turned the result on the 22nd of March 2019.

Declaring Sen. Adeleke of the PDP the winner, by justice Ibrahim Sirajo.

The results was annulled in 17 polling units by the election petition tribunal. 

The Tribunal ruled that the rerun election was unlawful.

The election tribunal judgement however was challenged by Oyetola at the court of appeal, defeating Adeleke.

Oyetola Defeats Adeleke

This was challenged by Adeleke at the Supreme court which the judgement was given today.

The judgement was unanimously delivered at the supreme court by 5 out of 7 justices
